Roadmaps to joy!

Why are some people so mean?

Q: If the core of our existence is full of love, innocence, perfection, how can a person be so mean and kill his or her whole family? It is hard for me to understand.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: You know you should go and talk to the people in the prison who have committed these heinous crimes. You'll find these people are nice people. Why even talk about them, talk about yourself! You know sometimes you've been so nasty. Have you been nasty? Have you been angry? Have you been upset? Afterwards you see – 'Oh, why did I do this?' Do you regret? In the same way these people – they did a crime, they did commit something they were totally unaware of, and then they started realizing. That's why spiritual education is so important, because this education doesn't allow you to commit such heinous crimes! They never had an opportunity to have access to this knowledge, to meditation, to breathing. That is why they did all that.

Host or Ghost :)

Host

Among all planets in the solar system, the earth is privileged to host life in its many forms, and, among all the species, humans are most privileged, for, they can host knowledge. Again and again you remember that you are peace, you are love, you are joy and that you are hosting the creator. If you do not realise that you are the host, you live like a ghost!

Humour and humiliation

You are endowed with certain naughtiness as a child. Keep it alive. Humour will grease all tough situations. One who has humour can sail through any conflict. Humour is the buffer that saves you from humiliation. If you refuse to be humiliated, you become invincible. Humour brings everyone together, while humiliation tears them apart. In a society torn with humiliation and insult, humour is like a breath of fresh air

Let not appearances deceive you

Let not appearances deceive you. There goes the devotee, chanting the sacred name of Narayana. He sings in ecstasy and dances in rapture for an hour or two. He is vehement in asserting that all indeed is Narayana. Here is a great monist who would not stop repeating: ‘I am God’, ‘I am God’, ‘I am God’. Profound is his learning and mighty his swordsmanship in argument. Tarry a while, friend.

Watch them under three conditions: when desperately hungry, when bitterly provoked and insulted, and when another man is pathetically distressed.

Now if they fulfil their former assertions, all hail to them, veritable God on earth are they; if they do not, keep yourself aloof from them lest you should be infected.

How can I conserve my energy?

Visitor (Italian): How can I conserve my energy?

Swami Krishnanada: Your energy becomes less and less as you desire things more and more. Whoever wants things, loses energy; whoever is one with things, becomes filled with energy. One who is united with things has no desire for things; this is the way one becomes filled with energy.
When things stand outside us, they take away our energy; if they are one with us, they give us energy. This is the secret of Yoga. Nothing should stand outside us; everything should be one with us. You cannot be a friend of anybody when that person is outside you. A person has to be one with you in thought and being; then he is a real friend. This is how you can be a friend of all things, even God Himself.

When you become the very things that you want, all energy comes in. This the secret behind success. You have to intensely feel that you already have what you want. Then things will really come to you, without your asking for them.

This is how energy increases. Yoga is the technique by which you do not run after things, but things, by themselves, will come to you. You have not only to know a thing but also be it.
