Celebrating 4 decades of Spic Macay with Padmashree Dr Kiran Seth

Padma Shri Dr Kiran Seth, 66, was studying in the US when he had an epiphany during a Brooklyn concert by dhrupad maestros Ustad Aminuddin Dagar and Ustad Fariduddin Dagar. When he came back to India and started teaching mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi, he realized most of his students were cut off from any form of Indian classical music. This inspired him to start a small organization called SPIC MACAY in 1977, to expose young people to India's vast cultural heritage. The organization grew and grew, and is today the largest voluntary non-governmental body of its kind. It organizes more than 5,000 concerts each year and has a presence in 800 Indian cities and towns. It is estimated to have impacted more than 3 million students from schools and colleges, many of whom credit SPIC MACAY with giving them their first taste of classical music.

The disharmony outside is a direct reflection of the disharmony within a large majority of the population. Bringing in art and other aspects of Indian and world culture into our lives can make all the difference.

Khadi in style at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University Lucknow

At Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University's convocation in 2015, students will dress in Awadhi attire made of handloom Khadi fabric. With that, the convocation robe, termed a British relic by former President late APJ Abdul Kalam makes an exit in this university. Boys will wear kurta-payjama with 'sadri' and girls will wear sadri on salwar kurta made of khadi, said BBAU spokesperson Kamal Jaiswal.

# Tackling laziness #
Guru Ji, kindly guide me to turn to spirituality again and again, because laziness blocks me to do this. Please advice how can I tackle laziness.

Sri Sri: To tackle laziness, you should take a vow for a limited period of time. Next 20 days I am not going to be lazy. In between, if you become lazy then from that day onwards for another 20 days take a vow again, ‘I am not going to be lazy.’
Whenever you break a vow, you say from that time you will continue with double the enthusiasm, and double the vigor. That seems to have worked for many people.

# Number one, taking a vow, taking a determination.

# Second would be attending to your food.

# Third would be to do some Pranayama. When there is energy, when there is Prana, it doesn’t allow you to simply sit and be lazy.

# Fourth, check vitamin levels in your body. If D3 is low, which more people seem to be having these days, or B12 is low in your body, then you don’t feel like doing anything. Morning you wake up and you feel too tired. This is the sign of vitamin D3 going very low in your body, because we eat all
this fast food.
E series of preservatives from food block the sun rays from getting processed into the system.
Though you’re in the sun, the D3 doesn’t get into your blood stream. This happens.
That is why we must avoid all these preservatives, ketchups and other such items which has all these chemical preservatives. What do you say? How many of you agree with me on this? (Many in the audience raise hands)

## We should go back to organic natural food.
